July’s BUCK MOON

“May we open to healing our masculine sides during this time; drawing in heavenly wisdom, peace, balanced leadership, and virility.” —Shanti

The July moon is called the Buck Moon because the male deer grow their. gorgeous antlers during this time. When a deer gets his antlers, it is said that he gains his connection with the divine, the eternal wisdom.

By the time of this full moon every year, we will have gained wisdom from the year, gaining access to deeper understandings of what’s happening around us and within us.

The deer symbolize peace, happiness and harmony in Buddhism, where female and male deer are seen together at the base of the Dharma Wheel.

In the Bible, deer are symbols of loyalty, purity, love and forgiveness. Deer also seem to represent piety, devotion, and, above all, safety in God's care.

In Hinduism, deer are associated with Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and the arts; deer are also symbolic of supremacy over all of nature.

Ways to Connect to the Buck Moon

  • Write it.

Write down Family, Self, and Work on three pieces of paper. Under each, write down what you are willing to let go and release during this time in these three areas.

  • Ground.

Infuse the pieces of paper with passion, masculine active energy. Place the three pieces of paper in earth, calling on Mother Earth to embrace that which you are willing to release. Say “Take that which no longer serves me into your loving arms, and in return grow bountiful abundance for all.”

  • Water It.

Take a bowl of water (you may want to leave it out overnight to be infused by the full moon and do this the following day). Place your hand over the water and say “I ask that all that I am willing to release nourish and give back to the earth.” Then pour the water over the area where you buried your paper. Say “As I release, so am I filled.” Then allow gratitude to arise within you.
