August’s Sturgeon Moon
“May we each be bountifully filled with compassion and love as we practice self-care this month.”—Shanti
The Full Moon of August is named the Sturgeon Moon to symbolize and represent the freshwater fish that were easily caught during this hot summer month in North America. These impressive archaic-looking fish are a gray-green color and their existence can be traced back over 200 million years!
Fish are spiritual totems, as the Christians sue fish to symbolize the love and compassion of Christ. The Sturgeon fish are symbolic of self-care because of the built-in mechanisms that they have to protect themselves.
